Kyle Noke v Rob Kimmons on UFC 122

September 3rd, 2010 uncle_fu No comments

MMAWeekly.com have reported that Kyle Noke has been confirmed to fight on UFC 122 in Germany on November 13th. Kyle will face Rob Kimmons

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight on Thursday.

A veteran of over 20 pro MMA fights, Kyle Noke (17-4-1) was a favorite to win his season of the "Ultimate Fighter". While Noke came up just short on the show, he came back at the season finale show and blasted through former housemate Josh Bryant with a 2nd round TKO.

Training full time with Greg Jackson's camp in New Mexico, Noke is currently riding a three fight win streak as he looks to keep moving forward as he fights in Germany in November.

Rob Kimmons (23-5) makes his sixth appearance in the UFC when he returns to action in November. Currently sporting a 3-2 record in the Octagon, Kimmons is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Steve Steinbeiss in his last fight in early August.

Ivo Santos Blog Part 1

September 2nd, 2010 uncle_fu No comments

I flew out of Melbourne at 6 am 25th of August heading for the hardest few weeks of my athletic life. Miami Judo World Cup, US Open, training camp in Japan, World Judo Championships and come home just in time for my first MMA fight.

Traveling 30 hours while cutting weight sure isn't fun but I survived. We (aussie team) stayed at the Doral Resort which was the same place as the competitions so quite handy. Ritzy place for rich golfers with big old buffet meals, which again I couldn't enjoy because I was cutting weight.

We had 1 day between arrival and fight day for last minute training and weight loss. I fought sat in the 66 kg division and lost to a columbian i should have beaten. He was more aggressive in his grips and beat me on points. I felt pretty annoyed with myself but at least I had US Open on sunday.

My body decided to get crazy sick and when I had to fight sunday i was dead on my feet. I am stubborn as a bulldog though and i still managed to post 3 wins and claim 7th place. We flew out to Japan 6am Monday morning.

In the few days we've already been in Japan its been a welcome relief. I am starting to feel healthier and the US Open result proved to myself that I do belong at this level, which I doubt from time to time. The other big plus here is we have lots of down time which I have been using to pick the brain of Priscus Fogagnolo one of Australia's top light heavyweight MMA fighters. We've been drilling tons of positions, transitions and tricky moves he has mastered. I am feeling really sharp and ready for the fight. I am going to have similiar amounts of time to spend for the next 2 weeks so I will have some really handy little tools for my fight on the Sep 17 Style Wars Card

Brace For Hard Work

September 2nd, 2010 uncle_fu No comments

The Townsville Bulletin has done an interesting article on MMA fighter Gokhan Turkilmaz, who will be fighting on Brace for War 6 in Townsville.

Wanna be a pro MMA fighter? Be prepared to train your guts out. Jade Kennedy reports

DISCIPLINE, hard work and courage are just three of the attributes needed to fight.

Professionally, we mean.

With a nickname like Carnage it's easy to see how local mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Gokhan Turkyilmaz, 24, could be seen as a tough guy.

The aircraft maintenance engineer moved to Townsville two years ago to work with 5th Aviation Regiment, which is when he took up MMA.

"Prior to moving here I was into professional kickboxing and muay thai in Sydney and the Gold Coast," he said.
